ANNA MASIUL-GOZDECKA
Anna Masiul Gozdecka focuses in her paintings mainly on the beauty of nature.
The artist seems to apply the pars pro toto principle. The motifs extracted from the richness of the landscape serve to showcase the perfection of forms, the play of light, and the details of the texture.
The motto in this patient and active admiration the artists devote to nature could be a poem by Zbigniew Herbert, Pebble (excerpt):
The pebble
is a perfect creature
equal to itself
mindful of its limits
filled exactly
with a pebbly meaning
with a scent that does not remind one of anything
does not frighten anything away does not arouse desire
its ardour and coldness
are just and full of dignity
I feel a heavy remorse
when I hold it in my hand
and its noble body
is permeated by false warmth
– Pebbles cannot be tamed
to the end they will look at us
with a calm and very clear eye
( translated by Peter Dale Scott and Czeslaw Milosz allpoetry.com)
We can talk here about human humility towards the world.
This humility manifests itself in action: in need to paint, to document the elements of the natural surroundings – stones, grasses, rays of light.
Albert Einstein supposedly said there are two ways to treat life – as if everything is a miracle or nothing is a miracle. Anna Masiul Gozdecka seems to stand in the ranks of those artists who look at the world with constantly renewed wonder.
Looking at the world`s wonders turns into participation in the world expressed by the need to create.
In such a way, the artist enters the circle of action. She has a dynamic relationship with nature; painting becomes a tribute to acknowledge the natural wonders.
And it becomes like a mirror for the world’s beauty – multiplying its charm.
