ZOFIA ANNA MISIAK – JANINA ŻYLIŃSKA – STANISŁAW MISIAK
ZOFIA ANNA MISIAK
Zofia Anna Misiak is a contemporary painter from an artistic family. Her parents are Janina Żylińska and Stanisław Misiak. Zofia Anna Misiak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and L’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She trained her painting skills under the supervision of J. Alesiński. Additionally, she learned lithographic techniques from A. Hadad.
Zofia Anna Misiak deals mainly with painting, drawing and lithography. She also creates using other techniques, including collage and painting on glass and wood. Moreover, she is the author of spatial forms. She presented her works at numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. In 1986, she won the Silver Medal – at the Petit Palais in Paris. In 2006, she was awarded in Palermo.
Misiak’s works are in collections in Poland and abroad. The artist belongs to the Association of European Culture “SEC” based in Venice.
Currently, Zofia Anna Misiak continues her “Galleries on the Road” series – “secret places, distant countries”. In recent years, she has been inspired by travel. She takes drawing notes from many places around the world. These are not only landscapes but also events and people encountered. The last place that inspired her was Malta – with its secrets and fantastic nature.
JANINA ŻYLIŃSKA
Janina Żylińska (pseudonym Zgrodna) (1917-2010) was a painter. She studied at the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius at the Faculty of Painting in the studio of Ferdynand Ruszczyc. She continued her studies in Jan Sokołowski’s studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She obtained her diploma in 1953.
She was involved in easel painting, creating figurative compositions, portraits, and landscapes. Her artistic portfolio also included projects in the field of applied graphics, including posters. She won second prize for a poster in a competition organized in Rio de Janeiro on the occasion of the city’s 400th anniversary of its founding.
She was an active participant in exhibitions. The most important of them are the exhibition at the MDM Gallery in Zachęta, the Women in Art exhibition at Zachęta, the exhibition One Hundred Realists at the National Museum in Warsaw, the Creativity of Women exhibition at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Open Door at the Orangery in Łazienki and the individual exhibition Seascape at the Guardhouse in Łazienki.
The artist’s works are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, the Historical Museum, and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
STANISŁAW MISIAK
Stanisław Misiak (1905-1970) was a painter. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, defending his diploma in 1955 in the studio of prof. Jan Cybis. He dealt with, among others, easel painting applied graphics (including theatre posters and illustrations) and workshop graphics.
He created, among others, a painting series about the liberation and reconstruction of Warsaw and a graphic series devoted to the architecture of Warsaw vedutes. He was the author of portraits of outstanding music teachers. He also created landscapes.
He participated, among others, in the National Art Exhibition – Zachęta. His works are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw and the Historical Museum in Warsaw.
