PORTRAIT OF EMOTIONS

OBLIVION. HIDDEN REALITY

The series begins with an already known image of a fabric that I deliberately deconstruct here. I remove the veil through which the character enters. I uncover the image of Podhale. A picture of Bruegel painted on white snow appears. A multithreaded image because of its form and content. An image that delivers the story of numerous people, but focuses the viewer’s eyes on one character, a woman’s figure. A figure with the appearance of an athlete, who crosses the road that is somehow historically important, discovers the history of her identity, discovers himself.

The photographic project entitled Oblivion. Hidden Identity were created under a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

IN WHITE, BLUE, RED

The project In White, Blue, Red features dozens of photographs. It consists of three parts inspired by Krzysztof Kieslowski’s film trilogy. The three colours are just a visualisation of emotions, with no reference to the slogan of the French Revolution. Still, liberty as evoked by Kieslowski is a prominent motif throughout the cycle.
The space of the apartment where the project takes place becomes a pretext to show human life. Based on day-to-day images, a psychological rather than aesthetic portrait of the subject is created. It is a testimony of its transience and an attempt to capture its feelings and described it emotionally through colour.

The first part of the project, In White, makes use of traditional black-and-white photography. The next two parts of the trilogy have colours to emphasize fairly strongly the structure and condition of the subject. The project is a personal recording of states and emotions over the years 2014-2017.
The project has been done in traditional technique using colour and black-and-white negatives, size 6/7 cm.

FRAGMENTARY MEMORIES OR THE POSTCARDS FROM TRAVEL

This is a sentimental and personal journey… a story of images drawn from journeys and stored for years as holiday souvenirs Over time, the images disappear and my memory narrows down to just one photo frame, the “postcard from travel”, as the title has it.
The photographic journey begins and ends in Silesia. But the areas explored have extended further, to include trips that never took place, entering the realm of my imagination and dreams; and associating the past with the present.

Fragmentary memories, or postcards from travel is a series created in 2011 and for this I was awarded a scholarship of the Marshall of the Silesia Voivodship. The photographs were registered with the use of the traditional technique on black and white negative 6/7 cm. The series was presented as diptychs in a 58/100 cm format, on baryte paper base.
