KRZYSZTOF SKÓRCZEWSKI
Krzysztof Skórczewski, born in 1947 in Krakow, is a renowned artist and graphic designer. He has been creating works using the copperplate engraving technique for over fifty years. His artistic education began in 1965 and continued until 1971 at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he obtained his diploma. In 1976, he continued his studies at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. This significantly impacted his artistic development, as it was there that he first attempted to work with the copperplate engraving technique.
Skórczewski is primarily known for his graphic techniques, but his work also includes drawings, pastels, and watercolours. Since the beginning of his artistic career, he has participated in over 200 group exhibitions and more than 50 individual exhibitions. His works are in prestigious collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Albertina Collection in Vienna.
The artist often draws inspiration from architecture and nature, reflected in his works. Motifs such as the Tower of Babel and the biblical Ark appear in series. Skórczewski emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship and technique in his approach to art, and his works are carefully marked and numbered.
Krzysztof Skórczewski has won numerous awards for his work, including the First Prize at the International Graphic Art Festival in Menton (France) in 1989 and the Second Prize at the International Graphic Biennial in Krakow in 1972[2]. His works have been presented at numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and he has also participated in charity auctions[2].
