Paulina Stasik – Protectresses
Paulina Stasik completed her painting studies at Kraków’s Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in 2015 in Prof. Leszek Misiak’s studio, with her diploma earning acclaim in the “Best Diplomas” competition. She obtained her PhD from the same institution in 2020, merging scholarly precision with a process-driven approach where the canvas intuitively shapes the work. From her Kraków base, she delves into the human form as a conduit for spiritual, erotic, and societal forces, achieved through glowing, multi-layered glazes that evoke a sensual, mystical allure.

Cycle Protectresses
Paulina Stasik, born in 1990 in Rzeszów, is a painter based in Kraków. She graduated from the Painting Department at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in 2015, completing her diploma in Prof. Leszek Misiak’s studio, and earned her doctorate there in 2020. While primarily a painter, she also crafts objects from resin, ceramics, and films.
Her paintings emerge from a meticulous, multi-layered glazing technique, building luminous depth with careful precision. At the heart of her work lies the body as a carrier of spiritual, sexual, and cultural energies—freed from binary gender divides, often rendered as androgynous forms that metaphorically explore life’s roles, spiritual depth, and erotic identity. These images weave a personal mythology centered on bodily awareness, empathy, and shared feeling, portraying the body as both an object of tenderness and consumption—infused with erotic aura and spiritual power.
Stasik’s signature palette of translucent pinks, violets, and purples bridges the real and symbolic realms. Her solo shows include “Skin in the Game” at Lyles & King in New York (2024), “Stones” [Kamienna] at Raster Gallery in Warsaw (2023), “Protectresses” [Opiekunki] at Raster (2021), “The Radiation of Silence” [Promieniowanie ciszy] at Wozownia Gallery in Toruń (2020), “Desire for Wholeness” at Shefter Gallery in Kraków (2019), plus “Crocodile Tears” and “Your Heart in My Brain” (2018). Her pieces grace museum collections and international exhibitions, cementing her rising profile
